Collaborative Accompanist


Praised by The Straits Times as a “highly musical personality,” pianist Donald Law is a soloist and collaborative artist. A prizewinner at national and international competitions, He took 1st prize at the 7th Lucien Wang Piano Competition (2016) and 2nd prize at the Nanyang International Music Competition (2017). Festival appearances and concerts have taken him across England, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Montenegro and China, in both solo and chamber recitals.

Highlights include Smetana’s Piano Trio in G minor, and Mozart’s Piano Concertos K.503 and K.453 as a soloist where it was met with critical acclaim reviewed in local newspapers such as The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao. Donald was also featured in CNA interview discussing about “What young artists in Singapore want”, and a special cover as an OCBC Scholar with BrightSparks Scholarship – “Let passion lead the way”.

Donald studied at NAFA (Diploma with Distinction), he completed his undergraduate (BMus, First-Class Honours) and postgraduate studies (Masters of Music) at the Royal College of Music, London, supported by the Henry Wood Trust Fund, the OCBC Undergraduate Scholarship, the Ngee Ann Kongsi Merit Award, and the Tay Chay Bing Bursary. His mentors include Dina Parakhina, Asley Wass, Lena Ching, and Boris Kraljevic; he has also worked with Ivan Klánský, Hüseyin Sermet, Noriko Ogawa, and the late Dennis Lee.

Donald actively serves as a juror for various piano competitions and have been invited to teach in masterclasses where he shares his musical views and expertise. In 2020, Donald released his solo album Evolution with the KNS Classical label.
