State Choir Choral Scholars & Conductor Residency 2026
The Voices of Singapore State Choirs Choral Scholars & Choral Conductor Residency offers emerging choral leaders (ages 18 and above) the opportunity to deepen their artistic craft through mentorship, rehearsal experience, and guided leadership within the State Choir environment. This Residency nurtures promising practitioners while supporting the musical strength and stability of the State Choirs across all voice parts.
Commitment: Apr 2026 - Dec 2026
(Participants are expected to participate actively and maintain good attendance at rehearsals with their attached State Choir throughout the residency period.)
Choral Scholar Residency
Up to 4 scholars per choir (1 per voice part)
The Choral Scholar Residency supports developing leaders who wish to grow in vocal leadership, sectional instruction, and ensemble management. Scholars participate actively in the weekly rhythm of their State Choir while gaining exposure to the wider rehearsal practices of VOS.

Requirements
Voice majors welcome
Strong background in choral or vocal ensemble work
Competent sight-singing skills
Choral Conductor Residency
Up to 1 resident conductor per choir
This pathway provides emerging conductors with authentic podium time and in-depth mentorship. Residents work closely with their State Choir conductor and receive artistic guidance from VOS Artistic Director Dr Darius Lim, gaining practical rehearsal and performance experience in a professionally supported environment.

Requirements
Voice majors and conducting students welcome
At least 1 year of experience leading choirs (as conductor, student conductor, or section leader)
Competent sight-singing skills
Audition Process
Choral Scholar submissions:
Singing video
Video conducting a rehearsal or teaching a short musical segment
Choral Conductor submissions:
Singing video
Video conducting a rehearsal or teaching
Video conducting a performance
Following the video round, shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview and a short teaching or rehearsal demonstration.
