Voices of Singapore (VOS) Presents ‘Echoes Across Continents’

A joint concert by top youth choirs from Singapore, the United States and Aotearoa New Zealand

Singapore, 28 May 2025 Voices of Singapore (VOS) proudly presents Echoes Across Continents, an international collaboration featuring two of the world’s top youth choirs alongside VOS’ own youth choir. Happening on 29 June 2025 at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, the concert brings together the Voices of Singapore Youth Choir, the Portland State Chamber Choir (USA) and the New Zealand Youth Choir in an evening of choral excellence and cultural exchange.

This special collaboration highlights the unifying power of music across borders. Each choir brings its own rich tradition and distinct musical identity, performing a diverse repertoire spanning classical works, folk songs, spirituals (gospels) and contemporary pieces. The evening will also include works by renowned composers such as Eric Whitacre, Samuel Barber and Darius Lim, celebrating the voices of youth from across the globe.

About VOS Youth Choir

The Voices of Singapore Youth Choir (VYC) is a premier ensemble for exceptional musicians aged 18-35. Under the direction of Artistic Director Dr. Darius Lim, VYC is a project-based choral programme that pushes the boundaries of choral music through innovative programming and global collaborations.

As a flagship State Choir within Voices of Singapore (VOS), the VYC programme also emphasises a unique integration of artistic excellence and community engagement, actively contributing to Voices of Singapore's community impact programmes for underprivileged demographics.

VYC made its debut in 2024 as guest performers at VOCES8’s concert in Singapore, and collaborated with the ensemble on a combined music video project. Most recently in February 2025, VYC was invited to represent Singapore at the 9th Jeju International Choir Festival in South Korea, with all land expenses fully sponsored by the festival. The choir performed in special concerts at the Seogwipo Arts Center and Jeju Booyoung Hotel, participated in choir exchanges with the Vancouver Youth Choir and the Philippine Madrigal Singers, and served as the demonstration choir for Dr. Lim’s workshop-lecture.

These opportunities continue to shape VYC’s journey as a vibrant and forward-looking youth choir on both the local and international stage.
