COMMUNITY IMPACT PROGRAMMES
Starlight Programme
The VOS Starlight Programme provides children and youth with special needs a safe and nurturing space to experience the transformative power of music. Through performance and inclusive music-making, the programme supports each individual’s growth, confidence and self-expression while celebrating their unique potential.
Starlight Music-Making Programme (MMP)
The Starlight Music-Making Programme (MMP) is an inclusive programme curated for children with special needs and their caregivers. Featuring a joyful blend of songs, rhymes and interactive activities, the programme introduces musical concepts such as dynamics and rhythm in a fun and engaging way. Lead facilitator Ms Tham Pei Wen taps into the Kodály approach which is highly sequential, employs various musical tools and focuses on all developmental aspects of the child. This makes music learning accessible and enjoyable for every child, regardless of ability. Recommended for children aged 6–12 with special needs, the programme welcomes all children to participate and share in the joy of music.
Starlight Voices is a choir comprising children and youth with special needs. The choir aims to inspire its members and raise awareness that music and performance are accessible to all, regardless of neurodiversity. Since its debut at the President's Star Charity in 2022, Starlight Voices has been invited to perform at several national-level events, including the Gardens by the Bay & Mediacorp National Day Concert 2023, as well as the Goh Chok Tong Enable Awards at the Istana in 2023.
Starlight Singers is a developmental programme for children and youth with disabilities, providing a supportive space to build foundational choral skills. With a focus on musical growth, teamwork, and confidence-building, participants are given opportunities to showcase their progress through intimate recitals, collaborative performances and exchanges with members of Starlight Voices.
