VSL Europe Tour & Grand Prix Win
The Voices of Singapore Ladies Choir earned the Grand Prix at the 16th International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music in Bratislava, Slovakia, during their 2023 European tour.
In December 2023, the Voices of Singapore Ladies Choir (VSL) became the first Singaporean choir to win the Grand Prix at the 16th International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music in Bratislava, Slovakia. Competing against 600 singers from eight countries, VSL received Gold Bands in two categories—Musica Sacra a cappella (95 points) and Female Adult Choirs (98 points)—and was named category winner for Female Adult Choirs.
The choir’s repertoire included a mix of international choral classics like Cesar Carrillo’s Ave Maria and Lorenz Maierhofer’s Musica Aeterna, alongside Singaporean folk tunes such as Dayung Sampan, arranged by Artistic Director Dr. Darius Lim.
As part of their European tour, VSL also performed at the VOCES8 Centre in London, showcasing their versatility and musical excellence on an international stage.
