Voices of Singapore Children’s Choir competing at the Llangollen Eisteddfod 2024

Singapore, 10 July 2024, Wednesday – The Voices of Singapore Children's Choir (VOSCC) is thrilled to announce their achievement of winning 2nd place at the prestigious Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod 2024. Competing in the Senior Children's Choirs category, VOSCC impressed the judges with their outstanding performances, securing a high score of 93

Under the guidance of Voices of Singapore’s Artistic Director, Dr. Darius Lim, VOSCC performed two pieces for the competition: Darius Lim’s “Ave Maria” and “Children of Light.” Representing Singapore, the choir faced stiffcompetition from some of the world’s most exceptional choirs. Despite this being their first-ever competition, the judges praised VOSCC for their "very fine singing," noting the "drama and energy" that culminated in a "very excellent performance." The choir's dedication and hard work shone through, earning them a 2nd place finish.

The first place in the Senior Children's Choirs category was awarded to the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir from the USA, while the Czech Republic’s Kejatān secured the 3rd place.

This accomplishment marks a significant milestone for VOSCC, which has just ended its inaugural UK tour. The tour began with a solo concert at London’s Sinfonia Smith Square, featuring Vox Urbane, followed by enriching choir exchanges, combined performances, and masterclasses with Barnsley Youth Choir and their artistic director, Matthew Wright. The journey culminated in their outstanding performance at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.
