Voices of Singapore to Host Premier International Choral Line-Up: The Inaugural Voices of the World Festival

Singapore, 20 May, Wednesday – This July, Singapore will welcome some of the world’s most distinguished children and youth choral ensembles for the inaugural Voices of the World (VOTW) International Choir Festival. Taking place from 16 to 20 July 2026, this five-day festival, presented by VoicesofSingapore(VOS), serves as a curated meeting point for children's and youth choirs from seven nations, coming together in a non-competitive environment to celebrate cultural heritage and the highest standards of choral artistry.

An Assembly of Distinguished Ensembles

The festival features an exceptional lineup of national and award-winning choirs, each bringing a unique vocal tradition to Singapore:

  • Toronto Children’s Chorus (Canada): Celebrated internationally for exceptional artistic excellence, high-quality choral training for young voices, and prestigious international performances.

  • Gondwana (Australia): One of Australia’s leading choral organisations, recognised for its bold artistic vision and its commitment to young singers.

  • New Zealand Secondary Students' Choir: A national ensemble renowned for winning international accolades, showcasing young Kiwi talent through a diverse repertoire that highlights New Zealand composers, Māori, and Polynesian waiata.

  • The Hong Kong Children’s Choir: One of Asia’s most established and largest choral institutions, known for its high-level musical training, international touring, and performances at major historical moments.

  • Soul Sounds Academy Children’s Choir (Sri Lanka): Award-winning Sri Lankan choir acclaimed for its international success, versatility in singing various genres, and high-quality vocal training.

  • Thailand Children’s Choir: Formed in partnership with Chulalongkorn University and the Thailand Choral Directors Association, the choir is founded on the principle of inclusivity, democratising music education.

  • Kuala Lumpur Children’s Choir (Malaysia): Malaysia's first comprehensive choral programme for children, the choir has toured widely and achieved accolades in multiple countries.

The international visitors will perform alongside the Voices of Singapore Children’s Choir and Youth Choir, with a special Friendship Concert featuring the Hong Kong Inter-School Teachers’ Choir, VOS Ladies Choir and VOS City Chorus.

The festival invites music lovers and the general public to engage with these world-class voices through a curated series of events:

  • Gala Concerts: Grand-scale performances featuring the full festival line-up in collective mass choir items and curated showcase segments. The galas serve as the artistic centrepiece of the festival, celebrating global unity through shared music-making on stage.

  • Feature Concerts: A series of intimate performances featuring individual choirs or paired ensembles presenting their own repertoire, offering audiences a deeper experience of musical styles, cultures, and choral traditions from around the world.

  • Workshops, Open Rehearsals, Educators’ Panel & Roundtable Discussions: Educational sessions led by renowned international conductors, offering a rare "behind-the-scenes" look at the precision and pedagogical processes behind elite choral singing.

  • Music Video: A collaborative film project featuring all participating choirs in a special arrangement of “We Are The World”, serving as a visual and musical celebration of their shared journey in Singapore.
