Voices of Singapore Appoints Gerald Tan and Stephanie Lee as Associate Conductors of VOS Youth & Ladies’ Choirs (Effective January 2026)

Singapore, 15 January 2026 — Voices of Singapore (VOS) is proud to announce two significant appointments to its artistic leadership: Gerald Tan as Associate Conductor of the VOS Youth Choir, and Stephanie Lee as Associate Conductor of the VOS Ladies’ Choir, effective January 2026. These appointments mark an important milestone as VOS continues to nurture excellence, representation, and artistic innovation among Singapore’s flagship choral ensembles.

A respected choral educator, conductor, arranger, editor and cultural advocate, Gerald Tan approaches ensemble leadership with both technical depth and social insight. He brings with him graduate training in Music Education, a background in Sociology, and professional certifications in Voice, Piano and Conducting.

Within VOS, Gerald has served as a valued member of the Artistic Faculty, shaping the musical and personal growth of young singers in the VOS Children’s Choir. He also coaches school choirs across Singapore. His rehearsals are known for their clarity, warmth, and educational focus, where students develop not only vocal literacy and ensemble discipline, but also confidence and expressive identity.

Beyond the podium, Gerald is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Muziksea, Southeast Asia’s leading choral music publisher championing regional composers on the global stage. His curatorial advocacy for Southeast Asian voices has positioned him as a key contributor to the region’s choral literature.

As Associate Conductor of the VOS Youth Choir, Gerald will:

  • Support the artistic development of the ensemble alongside the Artistic Director

  • Lead rehearsals and training programmes to strengthen musicianship and vocal identity

  • Conduct selected performances

  • Advance initiatives that elevate youth voices and Southeast Asian repertoire

Stephanie Lee is a dedicated conductor, educator and vocal specialist who has played a pivotal role within VOS across the VOS Children’s Choir and VOS Ladies’ Choir. Known for her meticulous musicality and expressive leadership, Stephanie’s work is marked by a focus on healthy vocal production, musical literacy and the empowerment of singers as expressive artists.

Her teaching philosophy combines technical clarity with the building of strong ensemble culture. Stephanie’s work across school and community ensembles has consistently led to musical growth marked by refined technique and intention.

As Associate Conductor of the VOS Ladies’ Choir, Stephanie will:

  • Assist in artistic direction, repertoire planning, and programming

  • Lead rehearsals to shape and refine the ensemble’s signature sound

  • Conduct appearances and performances across major projects

  • Support initiatives that strengthen and advance women’s choral artistry within VOS

A Shared Commitment to Artistic Growth

“We are thrilled to welcome Gerald and Stephanie into these expanded leadership roles,” said Dr Darius Lim, Founder and Artistic Director of Voices of Singapore. “Their musical sensibilities, educational philosophies and deep care for their singers align with our mission of building a Singing Singapore grounded in excellence, creativity and community.”

Together, these appointments signal the continued growth of the VOS Youth Choir and VOS Ladies’ Choir — two of our VOS State Choirs recognised for their artistic excellence and community spirit — as they prepare for an exciting slate of projects in 2026.
