VOS Youth Choir at the Jeju International Choir Festival & Symposium (South Korea)

The VOS Youth Choir participated in the 2025 Jeju International Choir Festival and Symposium, forging bonds with choirs from across the globe and showcasing their excellence as one of Singapore’s premier youth ensembles.

In early 2025, the Voices of Singapore Youth Choir (VYC) was invited to represent Singapore at the 9th Jeju International Choir Festival & Symposium, an internationally recognised gathering of top choirs, conductors and composers from around the world.

Held annually on South Korea’s Jeju Island, the festival is renowned for its emphasis on peace, cultural exchange and high-calibre choral artistry. VYC’s participation reflected Voices of Singapore’s commitment to artistic excellence and international collaboration.

Over the course of the tour, the choir presented full concert programmes at the Seogwipo Arts Center and Booyoung Hotel Jeju, performing works from both Singaporean and international composers. The ensemble also took part in cultural exchanges and joint rehearsals with the Vancouver Youth Choir (Canada) and the Philippine Madrigal Singers, fostering meaningful musical connections across borders.

In addition, VYC served as the demonstration choir for Artistic Director Dr. Darius Lim’s workshop and conducting lecture during the symposium, contributing to the festival’s broader mission of choral education and shared learning.

Among the works performed were Puppets’ Dream by Dr. Darius Lim, Salve Regina by Franco Prinsloo and also featured arrangements from around asia such as Hela Rotan, arranged by Ken Steven and Bersatu Senada by Tracy Wong.
