The Voices of Singapore Festival is Singapore's largest non-competitive choral festival.

This year marks the Festival’s seventh instalment, and it will be held over four days, from 5–8 September 2022.

The festival aims to create meaningful choral music-making experiences for all its participants and performers. An array of choral performances, concerts and workshops will take place in-person at the historical Chijmes Hall, with selected programmes available online. Message from the Artistic Director

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the Voices of Singapore Festival 2022! This edition is themed “A New Dawn”, encapsulating the spirit of us returning to a full-fledged, in-person festival.

It took a pandemic to make us realise that the simple act of singing in a group was a privilege we took for granted. That is why this edition, aptly titled ‘A New Dawn’, holds a special meaning to many of us. It marks a new beginning as we return to a full-fledged, in-person festival, to celebrate the freedom of coming together again to sing!

I am delighted to welcome 46 choral groups and 57 individual singers to the stage, each bringing with them a unique sound and stage presence. Some of these choirs and singers feature familiar faces, while others are making their festival debut.

I am also excited to introduce 2 new programmes: Stars of Today & Tomorrow by The Voice Company will feature budding voices under the tutelage of Akiko Otao, Leslie Tay and Freda Lim, and the Singer-Songwriter Series shines the spotlight on young local talents, some of whom may go on to front Singapore’s music scene one day.

We owe our deepest gratitude to CHIJMES for providing us with such a stunning venue, as well as our partner sponsors ABRSM, the National Arts Council and the Tote Board Arts Fund in enabling our work of bringing music to the communities. We are also indebted to Perennial Holdings, Voices of Singapore’s corporate patron, for being an advocate of our cause to inspire singing communities.

Music has an uncanny ability to touch us in ways we cannot comprehend, and make us feel more alive again. I hope the diversity of songs presented at this year’s festival will help bring some form of restoration to both participants and audiences alike, and instil a renewed sense of hope as we move ahead into a new normal.
